Jackson Rebounds with 5-3 Win Over Thrillville
JACKSON, Tenn.- The Rockabillys took their fair share of punches in game one, but bounced back with a much needed victory against the Thrillbillies.
Matthew Riley had his best outing of the season, as he diced up the Thrillbillies to the tune of nine strikeouts, and one earned run allowed. Riley possessed a little over a 65% first pitch strike rate, which contributed to his phenomenal evening on the bump.
The visitors plated a run in the second, but their lead was short-lived, thanks to a stretch where the Rockabillys pushed across five runs. Brooks Jones hit a sacrifice fly in the second, Drake Blackwood scored on a throwing error by Thrillville's catcher Eli Craft, Drew Blalock was domed with an offspeed pitch to cross a third run in the third, and Cade Miles knocked in a pair on a single.
The Thrillbillies threatened late in the contest, and even managed to pump on the pressure on closer Jaxson Lucas, as the tying run reached second for Thrillville in the ninth, but Lucas would successfully complete a rare three inning save, and elevated the Rockabillys passed the Thrillbillies.
Goats Notes: On deck, the Rockabillys head out to Alton, Ill. to take on the River Dragons in a mini two game series. First pitch tonight is set for 6:35 p.m. CDT.
