Rockabillys Comeback Bid Falls Short in Loss to Alton

JACKSON, Tenn.- The Goats fell just shy of a comeback victory versus their inter-divisional foes Wednesday night, dropping the contest 9-7.

The Rockabillys had recovered from an early four-run deficit, tying up the game thanks to timely hitting from Drew McConnell and Ivan Vega, and with aid from three free passes that were ushered by River Dragons starter Hunter Niksch.

Despite the quick turnaround, Alton immediately reseized control as they were also the beneficiaries of walks and an error on a throw to first by reliever Elijah Dunbar. Jackson was unable to recover from that three run deficit, despite pulling it within one in the bottom of the eighth. It was a whirlwind of "what could have beens" for the Goats, with notable performances from Adriel Vega and Jack Mclaury unfortunately being overshadowed by Jackson's mountain of mishaps.

As The Old Saying Goes...

"Walks lead to runs." It's a saying for pitchers that's as old as time, and it was prevalent in the loss. The pitching staff for the Rockabillys gave away 14 bases on walks and hit-by-pitches. Alton suffered a similar fate, allowing 12 of their own, but the Rockabillys failed to take advantage to the level the River Dragons did.

Goats Notes: The Goats face off again with the River Dragons in the rubber match of the initial three game series at 7:00 p.m. tonight. It is Bass Pro Shop Cap night at Rockabillys Stadium and it is Throwback Thursday with DJ Von!
